Local businesses to pledge support for bid

Swindon is  proud to have been longlisted for UK City of Culture 2029 and we need your help to win!

Swindon has been long-listed for UK City of Culture 2029, a prestigious title which could elevate the town’s future with a year of unforgettable events, creativity and celebration, attracting new investment, jobs and visitors.

Swindon has a powerful story to tell—of innovation, heritage, and community. As we develop our bid to become a future UK City of Culture, we’re inviting local businesses to play a visible, meaningful role in shaping that journey.

Every four years, one place is chosen to host a year of unforgettable events, creativity and celebration, attracting major investment, jobs and visitors. The winner will recieve £10M. Previous winners have seen big benefits to their cities including:

  • Over £750m from tourism for Coventry £150m of economic impact in Derry/Londonderry
  • Over 6 million visitors and £2.25m boost to the cultural sector in Hull
  • 800 new jobs in Hull’s cultural and visitor economy
  • 3m people attended events in Bradford
  • Bradford anticipates ~£700M growth by 2030 as a result

Previous long-listed places have realised huge benefits in community cohesion, profile, skills development and cultural and social impact as
a result of the bid development process.

By becoming a sponsor, your organisation will help unlock cultural activity, support local talent, and demonstrate civic leadership—while gaining recognition as a company investing in Swindon’s future.

We all know that if we win, everyone will want to join the success, but we need early leadership to make that success happen.

Businesses can help Swindon win by showing their support and expressions of interest in sponsorship, should we win, by following this link.
