Studio Brut opens in Arclite House

This week, Brut Collective launched their new outsider art studio, along with a temporary exhibition from a range of artists in the Arclite House space, occupied by Swindon Culture Collective for the sector.

The event was a gallery-night with a twist; each resident artist had curated the other! Harrie Dearing and SLART (Steve Light) are two Swindon artists who have been working to build this new space for outsider-artists: self-taught, overlooked, working outside the mainstream.

It was a packed out night, with in-house DJ, with speeches from Swindon Mayor Neil Hopkins & Deputy Lieutenant Claire Garrett, and was attended by dozens of visitors.

By making regular use of the studio within space at Arclite, Brut Studio are not only creating a new community of artists in West Swindon, but are also enabling the Collective to hold the rest of the space, to make it available to the network for events, workshops and exhibitions.

We’re excited to see what BRUT do next at Arclite, and we give a big thank you to Hypha Studios who partnered with Swindon Culture Collective to secure the space.
